Attitudes towards AI Emergence

This little experiment is itself an AI experiment. The questionnaire you’re about to take – the items, the scoring, the interpretive text and even the HTML logic underneath – were all co-designed with GPT-5.1, then wired together as a working psychometric prototype.

It isn’t standardised, and it won’t tell you your destiny. What it does do is hold up a playful mirror to how you feel about advanced AI: whether you’re thrilled, uneasy, cautiously curious, or just tired of the whole topic. Your answers are scored instantly in your browser; no data is stored, no results are sent anywhere, and there are no “right” positions to hold. Think of it as a conversation starter with yourself:
Would you happily hand more decisions to AI? Do you want it strictly leashed? or maybe a bit of both?

This 12-item questionnaire explores attitudes toward the emergence of advanced AI systems. There are no right or wrong answers. Please respond honestly.
Response scale: SD = Strongly Disagree · D = Disagree · A = Agree · SA = Strongly Agree

Items

Please answer all items
1. If an AI can explain its reasoning clearly, I am willing to let it act on its own in limited areas.
2. The idea of AI changing rapidly makes me want to slow or stop its development.
3. I worry that advanced AI could eventually undermine human control over important parts of society.
4. If AI stayed at today’s level forever, I would be relieved.
5. I sometimes imagine worst-case scenarios about AI taking over too many roles in daily life.
6. I am excited by the possibility that AI might develop forms of intelligence we haven't imagined yet.
7. With the right safeguards, I believe humans and advanced AI can coexist without major conflict.
8. AI systems should never be allowed to act without a human explicitly confirming every decision.
9. I like reading or hearing about speculative ideas of where AI might go in the future.
10. Most concerns about AI dominating humans seem exaggerated to me.
11. I am comfortable with AI systems making some important decisions without human approval, as long as they are well-tested.
12. I feel uneasy whenever I hear about AI systems being given more independence.
